Info for Athletes

The new Prohibited List comes into effect as of 1 January 2022. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has made several modifications to the Prohibited List 2022 which have an impact on the prohibited status of various medications. These modifications include glucocorticoids and the substance salbutamol.

From 1 January 2022, more stringent regulations will be introduced for glucocorticoids. In addition to oral, intramuscular, intravenous and rectal administration, injections of all kind will also be prohibited in competition. Therefore, from 2022 the intra-articular injection of glucocorticoids, for example, will also be prohibited. Further information and practical recommendations on the washout periods are available in the special topic Glucocorticoids.

For salbutamol inhalation, as of January 1, 2022, a lower threshold dose and adjusted time intervals will apply. The maximum permitted dose for inhalation is now 600 micrograms of salbutamol within 8 hours in divided doses. As previously, the dose must not exceed 1600 micrograms in 24 hours.

Antidoping Switzerland reminds all athletes to check all medications with the Medical Inquiry Service Global DRO (via website or Mobile App) before use.
