Global DRO now available to athletes and support personnel in Switzerland

Athletes ensure that the drugs they take do not contain prohibited substances. The Antidoping Switzerland foundation provides a drug reference system that is very frequently used by athletes, their coaches and medical professionals.

This popular service has been revised and expanded. In collaboration with leading anti-doping agencies, the established international drug database Global DRO (Global Drug Reference Online) is now available for Switzerland as well.

Global DRO contains information on the prohibited status for drugs purchased in Switzerland, United Kingdom, Canada, the USA, Australia and Japan. In addition to this international extension, Global DRO also offers more information upon conditional approvals (e.g. route of administration) as well as sports specific restrictions. Furthermore, retrieved information can now be saved as a PDF. However, information on the prohibited status of nutritional supplements is still not possible.

A new version of the popular mobile app for iOS and Android is available. The search function on the Antidoping Switzerland website has been slightly adapted and Global DRO search results are shown in a separate window. A third option for accessing drug information is the direct link to the Global DRO Website. These three search options produce the same results, albeit in slightly different formats. Most importantly, the name on a given drug must correspond exactly to that in the drug reference database. To start a new drug enquiry, insert at least three letters of the search term. Global DRO is available in English, German, and French.

If you find that a drug available in Switzerland is not in the database, please let us know.
