Eight employees of Swiss Sport Integrity visited the Blood donation center in Bern to donate blood together – and potentially save lives.

Under the motto "We take blood – now we give some of it back," Swiss Sport Integrity visited the Blood donation center in Bern. Human blood still cannot be produced artificially, and certain blood components are only viable for seven days. Therefore, patients are constantly in need of blood donations. Around 700 blood donations are needed daily to ensure the supply of Swiss hospitals and to provide the necessary blood to people who are in need of a blood donation, for example due to an illness or accident.

"As a national anti-doping organization, we regularly take blood samples from athletes for doping tests. With this initiative, we were able to 'give back' a part of what we take and do something good together," said Director Ernst König about the blood donation.

Sonja Bill, Marketing Communications Specialist at the Interregional Blood Transfusion SRC: "Blood reserves are often low during the summer months, as potential donors are often on vacation while the demand for blood products remains high. We are very grateful to SSI for setting a good example during this critical time."
